1. This is an exercise in summarizing and making generalizations. Look at the chart and think about how you would describe the differences between these two sides. Create three separate sentences that you feel represents these differences.

Religion
During the past religion changed a lot, because people started out believing the church and what they had to say about God, but now in the renaissance are second guessing the church and what they have to say about God. Because of the invention of the printing press, more and more people stated reading the bible. As more and more people were reading the bible more and more people started having their own opinions about religion, and didn’t start believing the pope because people had their own opinions.

Faith and reason:
This has a big impact on the past because, during the past most people was controlled by every decision they made. A lot of people didn’t have freedom of speech, nor freedom of action. I would say it was a lot harder to be living in the past because of their leadership. Living now is much more sustainable because most people are not controlled and demanded to do stuff; now people can just live their own life.

Art and music:
Are and music helped advanced and influence a change in culture during the renaissance.

2. Which of the items on the list do you feel had the most impact on the rest of the list…in other words, which of these was most necessary for the rest to occur? In one-two paragraphs explain the one you would choose and justify why you would pick that one. A quality entry should look at the impact that this choice has on the others on the list.

Before the renaissance, faith was one of the key most people focused on. Faith is when a person has a belief that is not proved and the obligation of loyalty. If you were a Christian the role of faith was the trust in god and his promises. When life moves on faith turned into reason. Reason is a statement in ones justification of their beliefs and actions. The difference is that one is not forced to a certain faith and has a reason to what they believe in. This helped the culture advance such as in music and art because they are able express how they feel. This was a major turning point in history.

3. Considering all of the terms on the list and the Enlightenment reading, please write paragraph that you believe summarizes the Age of Enlightenment.

Because of the trade and commercialism; it gave the world an opportunity to advance as a whole and bring in new places that were never given the chance. Commercialism doesn’t only help a country, town, city, or even a state advance but affects an average person’s everyday life. Commercialism promotes a way of life. It helps a place consume important goods they needs; it can be anything from products to food. Clothing to, agriculture, and gases to oils. Places that weren’t able to make products they need were able to get it from another country. Trading and commercialism helped in the Age of Enlightenment.

How would Machiavelli evaluate Macbeth as a leader?

The ends justifies the means. this quote just sums up the paragraph, this quote the ends justifies the means, defines the fact that it doesn't matter they way you got what you wanted, it matters that you got what you wanted. Machiavelli would think that Macbeth is a good leader, because in the play, Macbeth lived up to the expectations of this quote. macbeth didn't care how he got to be king he just wanted to hurt people or anything that got in his way of becoming king.

Duncan as a leader.

From reading the play Macbeth, I thought Duncan was not a good leader. Cawdor’s “loss is noble Macbeth’s gains”! (1.2.65). that quote is saying that, the new Cawdor is going to be Macbeth. Because Duncan’s old Cawdor betrayed Duncan and the country. Duncan is a good person, because everyone is loved by him and people respect him. I don’t think that Duncan is a good leader because it seems like he never thinks ahead of his decision. He made a mistake on making the old Cawdor be Cawdor, and now he’s going to make a mistake again on making Macbeth be the new Cawdor. That’s why I feel that Duncan is not a good leader.

Appearance vs. Reality

Lady Macbeth portrays many roles in this play, but one that is vary pronounces throughout is her Appearance vs. Reality. Woman during this time period are known to be gentle, kind, and nice, however, Lady Macbeth appears to portray these qualities but in reality she does not. Lady Macbeth quoted “come, thick night, and pull thee in the dunnest smoke of hell, that my keen knife see not the wound it makes, nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark, to cry Hold hold! (enters Macbeth) Great glamis worthy Cowdor!” (1.5.45-50) this shows Appearance vs. Reality because in reality lady Macbeth want to kill Duncan alone, but she appears to be the kind and gentle being as shown when she talks to Macbeth.

Loyalty and Honor

Macbeth had much Loyalty and Honor to his country because he was fighting hard for his country, winning battles for his country, and most of all protecting his country. Macbeth is a Loyalty and Honor man everybody respected him, in his mind he felt on top of the world. As he walked into the three sisters and what he heard from the three sisters after talking to them, changed his character by a lot. Macbeth started thing of thoughts he would never think of, and he was planning to do things that he will never do. Macbeth Loyalty and Honor changed after talking to the three sisters. On top of that his mind set changed after seeing Lady Macbeth because she was such evil.

Gender Roles.

From the play Macbeth gender roles has a big impact. Macbeth received electrifying news from the three witches that he is going to become the next cowdor and the next king. Soon as you know it the king ordered his servant to go tell Macbeth that he is the new cowdor. That changes Macbeth mind set a lot, now his next step is for him to become king as fast as possible. Lady Macbeth heard the news and she is happy for Macbeth but she wanted Macbeth to be king real soon, and for Macbeth to be king soon they would have to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth new that Macbeth was too nice to actually murder the king. Lady Macbeth quoted to Macbeth “you lack the ruthlessness” (1.5.15-25) lady Macbeth also quoted “rid me of the natural tenderness of my sex” (1.5.40-45) lady Macbeth wants to become more like a men so she can have the strength to convince Macbeth into killing king Duncan, and lady Macbeth also want Macbeth to become more like her mean and carelessness so Macbeth can have the strength to murder. In the back day the lady was suppose to be calm, cool, while the men do all the handwork. Lady Macbeth is saying that Macbeth won’t do the hand work because he is too kind.

Machiavelli

Machiavelli (3 May 1469 – 21 June 1527) was an Italian philosopher and writer based in Florence during the Renaissance Machiavelli is most famous for a short political treatise, The Prince, written in 1513, but not published until 1532.

Useful link about Machiavelli.

A prince should be slow to punish, and quick to reward.
I think this quote is most relevant to leadership because, if your a good leader you want to take your time by punishing somebody by doing study on the person or the army. you want to study your opponents weaknesses and strength before you attack. when you attack and conquer, you should most defiantly reward yourself or the person who got the job done.

Before all else, be armed.
I think this quote is least relevant to leaders today because now these days leaders look trowse settle arguments with peace instead of going to war and settling there arguments in war.

It is not essential that a prince have all good qualities but it is most essential that he should seem to have them.
I think would have been most useful for Pizarro, because i captain or a leader doesnt have to be a good be a good captain, he just has to be a good person and if he gets what everbody wants than most of his followers will look at him as a good leader.
